Chop Globlins is an old-school first-person shooter that offers fast-paced action and a high level of brutality. It was developed by David Szymanski - who has Polish roots and is the (co)creator of such works as Gloomwood and Dusk.
Plot
A complex, multi-threaded story is definitely not the strong point of this title. The plot premise of Chop Goblins is very simple - during a break-in at a museum where various artifacts were stored, a chest imprisoning evil goblins was opened. Having been freed, they began to wreak havoc both in space and time. The player's task is to stop them.
Game mechanics
To do this, you have to traverse five diverse levels. One of them takes us to ancient Greece, another to Transylvania of the 1800s, a third to a modern fictional city, and another to the not-too-distant future.
In each of them you have to kill all the creatures and collect as many gold coins as possible. Eliminating the sinister goblins is made possible by five unique weapons. Among them we can find both a classic rocket gun and an automatic peg gun (named Mk. II Impaler "Vlad").
In each of the available levels we meet different types of goblins. There is also no shortage of much more difficult bosses to defeat. Importantly, however, a single game lasts about thirty minutes. It's worth noting here that Chop Goblins was designed to encourage players to play through multiple times. This is helped by scoreboards and numerous secrets and achievements to be earned.
Graphics
Chop Goblins features simple, stylized visuals, the creation of which used the pixel art technique. This complements the old-school approach to gameplay very well.
