Chasing the Unseen Description
Chasing the Unseen is an arcade adventure game that focuses on exploring a dream world. The game was developed by the independent Canadian team Strange Shift Studio and is their debut project.
Mechanics
In Chasing the Unseen we watch the action from a third-person perspective (TPP). During the game, we play as a boy who is transported to a dreamlike reality. Wanting to get answers to the questions that haunt him and to leave this place, the protagonist must explore unearthly locations.
Giant creatures, such as powerful octopuses or long snakes, lazily wander around the levels. The hero can climb on the creatures, just like on elements of the environment. Additionally, the protagonist has a simple parachute on his forearm, which he can use both to safely fall from great heights and to get to hard-to-reach places.
The authors tried to create abstract environments and because of that the locations are based on fractal geometry and other related techniques. Thanks to this, the places we visit resemble a kind of labyrinths full of unearthly shapes.
