Contrary to its name, Carmageddon TDR 2000 is not a sequel to one of the most controversial racing games ever created – instead, it constitutes a new approach to the franchise. The creators prepared a lot of unique tracks and the game focuses on delivering an on-line, multiplayer experience; the players compete against one another while racing, or rather fighting with use of various car models. Interestingly, Carmageddon TDR 2000 can be hardly classified as a racing title, as the experience is based on fast-paced and brutal action.
Plot
The player assumes the role of Max Damage – though he is a man with a life sentence, the protagonist does not intend to go to jail. He decides to escape, counting on his skill, as he will have to face ruthless representatives of the police department, as well as hordes of gangsters and thousands of citizens with a lust for murder.
Mechanics
In Carmageddon TDR 2000 for PC, the player can see vehicles and objects getting damaged, as well as people getting hurt, since this new entry works based on a different, 3D engine. The game offers over 48 levels filled with murderous competition. When it comes to the available cars, the game offers 50 different models, and those can get completely wrecked in action. The player has to destroy the opponents in order to get to the finish line. What constitutes a novelty in this installment, is the presence of both aggressive vehicles and AI-controlled characters that react to what happens on the screen – for instance, they can cross the streets, run away or even attack the player. Also, for the first time in the series, the player can customize vehicles to their liking, as well as place traps to make it more difficult for the opponents.
Game modes
Carmageddon TDR 2000 for PC offers three components. Those include a single-player campaign, the multiplayer component, and another gameplay variant for free exploration. The single-player mode offers nine, three-dimensional environments. The multiplayer component on the other hand, provides seven modes and the action here takes place on nine maps.
