Bulletstorm VR is a dynamic sci-fi first-person shooter developed with VR in mind (SteamVR, Meta Quest, PlayStation VR2). It's a new version of the game starring Grayson Hunt from 2011, adapted for VR.
Bulletstorm VR was developed by Incuvo (Green Hell VR), a subsidiary of People Can Fly (Painkiller), the studio responsible for the original game.
Plot
The game is set in the 26th century. Its protagonist is Grayson Hunt, a former member of the elite Dead Echo squad, who deserted and became a space pirate after being betrayed by his commander, General Victor Serrano. A decade later, both men meet again. Hunt decides to use the opportunity to get revenge and suicide attacks his foe's flagship, crashing both their vessels on the ruined planet of Stygia. On its surface, Grayson and Serrano battle one last time.
Mechanics
Bulletstorm VR transfers the original's action-packed gameplay to VR. The game revolves around dynamic, chaotic gunfights and rewards us with points for every kill - the more spectacular it is, the more points we get. Points are spent to upgrade Grayson's gear and enhance his skills.
We traverse jungles and ruined buildings, facing the general's troops, hostile fauna and even gigantic monsters. During each gunfight we can seamlessly transition between firing our weapon and fighting in melee. The game encourages the use of an energy whip to pull foes closer and a powerful kick which sends them flying into environmental obstacles, such as rebar or spikes.
Bulletstorm VR features a wide roster of futuristic weapons, including remote controlled missiles or the Flailgun, which fires two grenades connected by a chain. Wielding this unique gun we can restrain enemies and take out entire groups by remotely detonating the projectile.
