Brothers in Arms: D-Day Description
A portable edition of Brother in Arms prepared with a view of fans of tactical shooters. D-Day is a spin-off of a game series originated on PC and stationary consoles. This one, however, was released exclusively on PSP.
Just as the previous games, this one lets you play as soldiers fighting in a famous military operation β Invasion of Normandy, one of the key moments of World War II. You command Allied soldiers. They are two recurring characters: Matt Baker and Joe βRedβ Hartsock, who take part in this historic event.
Brother in Arms combines first person shooter with elements of a tactical game. The core gameplay is about engaging opponents in a firefight and then flanking them with the second squad. You assume the role of a commander and give orders to other soldiers, telling them to hide, shoot at the enemy, or take positions.
The control system used in the game and its level design were adjusted to the portable console. Moreover, Artificial Intelligence of enemies was improved, new weapons were added, and destructible elements of the environment were implemented β so you cannot stay hidden behind one cover forever. Besides, you can control heavy artillery, such as mortars.
It is noteworthy that while designing game levels, the authors used aeronautical charts from World War II period. For the sake of realism, the developers even went to the original Normandy landing sites, in order to recreate them accordingly. On top of that, there is multiplayer mode, in which you can cooperate with friends in 12 missions.
