A deckbuilder roguelike, in which we build a deck out of magical attacks and buffs to wield it against monsters in turn-based battles. Breach Wanderers features over a thousand unique cards and ten playable characters with unique abilities.

Breach Wanderers is a comic book-style roguelike in which we create our own deck out of hundreds of available cards. Equipping them grants our characters unique abilities and attacks which they can use to fight hordes of monsters. The game was developed by Baronnerie Games, an independent studio based in Montreal.

Mechanics

Our main objective in Breach Wanderers is to build a deck and develop a strategy to complete quests with. The game features over a thousand unique cards which can buff our character, cast spells or inflict enemies with status ailments (such as freeze or poison). Most of them require the use of energy, which is partially restored every turn. It can also be increased by playing specific cards.

Each defeated enemy gives us a chance for a new card to add to our deck. This means the further in the game we are, the more strategic freedom we have. We select a limited number of cards before each mission. After using them all, the deck is reshuffled and the cards return to our hand.

Our runs are heavily influenced by our choice of playable character. Each protagonist has different strengths and weaknesses we should keep in mind when planning. The roster includes Silan, wielding a massive cannon, the assassin Mirley capable of devastating sneaky strikes, Inna who uses self-crafted tools in combat or the warrior Caitan focusing on stance changing.

Between each quest we return to a city, where we can rest and accept tasks from the Guild. That's also where we can upgrade our gear, granting ourselves buffs such as health regeneration, increased damage or more energy at the start of combat.
