The action of the text adventure game Borrowed Time (in Great Britain known as Time to Die) takes us into the thirties of the last century, to one of the American metropolises. The main protagonist of the program is a private detective Sam Harlow, whose life one day turns into a nightmare after receiving a mysterious phone call. The anonymous interlocutor informs the investigator that he or she will be killed soon and then disconnects....
Harlow decides to find a mysterious assassin and you, of course, the player, will help him. The task is not easy - there are at least twenty suspects in the city, and each of them has enough reasons to get rid of the troublesome detective once and for all.
All commands in the game are given via the keyboard, typing sentences in English. The Interplay Productions product understands both simple and complex commands, and for ease of use, the most popular words used in the program are always displayed on the screen. We receive information about subsequent locations in the form of descriptions and pictures. The latter may sometimes say more about the place we visit than a dry text.
Borrowed Time is an extremely difficult game because of the dangers lurking around - making a wrong decision or taking a wrong step practically always ends in death. The authors did not have any mercy for the users of the program in this respect, so you should remember to save the state of the game very often.
