[0:30] Borderlands Legendary Collection trailer #1
GameSpew: 9 / 10 by Richard Seagrave
All three games in Borderlands Legendary Collection are very nearly flawless. There’s perhaps just a little too much to-ing and fro-ing; and as you go from one game to the other you’ll find that the series hasn’t evolved all that much over the years. Still, if you’re into looting and shooting, you really can’t go wrong. Gyro aiming is built into the Switch versions of these games, too, adding a new gameplay dimension. Needless to say, whether you’re a fan of the series or someone interested in jumping in, Borderlands Legendary Collection is outstanding.
Nintendo Life: 8 / 10 by Stuart Gipp
Borderlands Legendary Collection is an excellent Switch showing for this beloved series, though it's difficult to determine if the price is right; sure, there's an enormous amount of content here so you're certainly not being ripped off, but it's old content and these games are routinely extremely cheap on other services. Still, it's a technically excellent port of three expansive, enjoyable shooters, and they're a perfect fit for the Switch. Whether played alone or with pals, the compulsive gameplay is terrific to dip into or get stuck into for a massive grinding session. If you've somehow never played Borderlands before, you can't go wrong with this set. If you have, but want to try a different character class on the bus ride home, now's your chance.
Metro GameCentral: 8 / 10
A great Switch port that packs in an incredible amount of content and comes with relatively few technical issues.
Borderlands Legendary Collection Description
Borderlands Legendary Collection is a compilation of three parts of the best-selling looter shooter series (combining FPS and RPG elements). The set released by 2K Games includes not only Borderlands, Borderlands 2 and Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, but also a number of add-ons to each of them.
Plot
Borderlands takes us on a journey to the desert planet of Pandora, where a mythical crypt is located, hiding countless riches. It's being followed by Vault Hunters. It is in them that we take on the role in the game. The action of the second part of the series was set shortly after the events presented in the first one, and it tells the story of a group of other characters who have to stop the sinister Handsome Jack from appropriating Pandora. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel, on the other hand, is played out between the events from the first and second part of the series. The players hit the moon of the planet and, following Handsome Jack's commands, observe his slow transformation from a sober-minded man to a ruthless tyrant.
Mechanics
In the games that create the Borderlands Legendary Collection, the action is observed from a first person perspective (FPP). In each of them, the game begins with choosing one of several characters representing different specializations and possessing unique abilities. While travelling through vast open locations (on foot or at the helm of the vehicles), we are engaged in a variety of tasks (apart from missions pushing the plot forward, there are a lot of side quests waiting to be performed here), as well as fighting against hordes of enemies. During dynamic battles we make use of an impressive arsenal of firearms and combat skills. As we progress, we gain experience and advance to the next levels, and we also develop the combat potential of heroes by finding more and more powerful equipment.
Game modes
The games that create the Borderlands Legendary Collection can be played alone or in multiplayer mode. We can play in the company of another player on a split screen, while on the Internet we can work with up to three people.
Technical aspects
While working on the Borderlands Legendary Collection, the authors did not make any major changes to the graphics of the games. As the first part of the series appears here in the Game of the Year Edition, there are some improvements to the original, with a minimap, an improved equipment screen and an automated process of lifting first aid kits and ammunition.
Other information
Each of the games included in the Borderlands Legendary Collection has been enriched with numerous expansions. In the case of the first part of the series, it is referred to: The Zombie Island of Dr. Ned, Mad Moxxi's Underdome Riot, The Secret Armory of General Knoxx and Claptrap's New Robot Revolution. Borderlands 2 was extended with add-ons: Captain Scarlett and her Pirate's Booty, Mr. Torgue's Campaign of Carnage, Sir Hammerlock's Big Game Hunt, Tiny Tina's Assault on Dragon Keep, Mechromancer Pack, Psycho Pack. Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel received the following DLC: Claptastic Voyage, The Holodome Onslaught, Baroness Pack, Handsome Jack Doppelganger Pack.
