Bloo Kid 2 is the second installment of classic platformer game series started in 2011. The title was developed by the independent German studio Winterworks and inspired by iconic games of this type, including the Super Mario, Sonic and Alex Kidd series.
Plot
The action of Bloo Kid 2 is set after the events presented in the previous installment. The main character, Bloo Kid, managed to save his beloved, Pink Girl; soon afterward the couple even has an offspring, Pink Kid. When the latter is abducted, the characters are left with no chooice but chase after the kidnappers.
Mechanics
In Bloo Kid 2 we observe the action from the side. The game consists of five thematically different worlds, each of which is divided into a number of smaller stages. During the game, we go right, jump over abysses, avoid numerous traps (which often requires making double jumps), swim, and face enemies trying to stop our character (with powerful bosses at the forefront). On each board, there are various power-ups waiting to be collected, which increase our chances for victory.
Our actions are evaluated on an ongoing basis, and reaching the end of a given level will not provide us with the highest marks. In order to obtain one, we have to meet additional conditions, such as defeating all enemies, collecting every star, or catching a balloon at the end of the stage. In addition, seasoned players can try their hand at a higher level of difficulty (apart from that, the game offers normal and easy levels), where the completion of a given stage should be within the time limit.
Technical aspects
Just like the first installment of the series, Bloo Kid 2 features colorful, two-dimensional visuals straight from the era of 8-bit titles. The retro style is complemented by a catchy, chiptune soundtrack.
