Blight: Survival is a co-op action game with a medieval horror theme and souslike combat. We find ourselves in a war-ravaged region and try to deal with a plague of undead and bandits.
Blight: Survival is a co-op medieval action game with a plague of undead in the background. The title is the debut project of the indie team Haenir Studio.
Plot
Blight: Survival is set in a medieval-inspired world, in which two countries got into an endless conflict. The war has devastated both sides, and the border areas have turned into desolate no-man's land, where deserters and bandits roam.
As if that wasn't enough, the bloody toll taken by the war gave rise to a mysterious plague. The corpses of the murdered rose from the dead as undead monsters stalking everything alive.
Countries, paralyzed by perpetual conflict, do not have the strength to deal with this monstrous plague. Instead, they send a handful of daredevils to find the source of the plague and put an end to it.... as long as they manage to survive the confrontation with the undead and the brutal gangs roaming the ruined frontier.
Game mechanics
Following the pattern of similar productions, in Blight: Survival the action takes place on a huge map, which players explore alone or in a group of up to four people. It is not a peaceful walk. The game world is traversed by bandits and undead creatures, which must be dealt with in bloody clashes observed from a third-person perspective (TPP), which may bring to mind soulslike games.
You'll also find loot on the map, sometimes left behind by previous adventurers. A mechanic known from roguelike games is present in the game: when the player dies, he loses all the items he has acquired. This takes into account treasures, but also armor and weaponry, which can be customized to your own preferences.
Game modes
Up to four people can play Blight: Survival together over the Internet, but the title also allows for solo play.
Technical aspects
Blight: Survival is based on the fifth-generation Unreal Engine technology by Epic Games, which is used by both independent developers and big publishers. Thanks to this, the three-dimensional graphics present a high level in terms of details and visual effects.
