Black Skylands

Mechanics

Black Skylands is a top-down game set in a vast open world, consisting of over twenty islands, all varied in terms of biomes. We'll get to visit snowy lands, dense forests, farming settlements and large cities. We'll mainly traverse the world on foot with help of a jetpack, as well as aboard airships.

To progress through the game, we must complete quests. Along the way we'll face enemies, who we'll fight using firearms or heavy weaponry mounted on our ship. As we progress, we'll increase the protagonist's combat capabilities, unlock various upgrades to ships and weapons and acquire artifacts granting special abilities; these come in handy especially during boss fights.

During moments of downtime, we can rebuild the protagonist's home using gathered resources.

Technical aspects

Black Skylands features colorful pixel art visuals. Although at first glance it looks like a game from the 16-bit era, it implements modern mechanics, such as the day and night cycle.
