Mechanics

In bit Dungeon II we observe the action from a camera suspended above the head of our character. In the course of our adventure, we travel through underground labyrinths, eliminating everyone who stands in our way - from common adversaries to oversized and powerful bosses. As permadeath mechanics are used here, after the death of the protagonist we have only one chance to save his soul; if we die again on the way, we have to start the game anew while retaining only the acquired coins. In addition, the underground labyrinth is generated procedurally, which means that each time we start the game we have to face different challenges - because of the location of the opponents, as well as the distribution of items changes.

In real-time battles, the protagonist makes use of an extensive arsenal, which he finds on the way or buys from a vendor (melee and ranged weapons as well as magical weapons). During the battle, we must constantly control the situation on the battlefield to charge a more powerful attack, dodge, or escape. In addition, a classless character progression system has been implemented in the game - when we advance to the next level of experience, the value of the hero's statistics increases, as well as after gaining one of the special power-ups scattered around the dungeon. Skills, on the other hand, depend on the weapon used at a given moment.

Technical aspects

Two-dimensional visuals of bit Dungeon II were made in pixel art technique. The adventure is accompanied by a chiptune soundtrack by Stress_tn.
