Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition is the remastered version of a 2003 action adventure game. It's main designer was Michel Ancel, known for his work on the Rayman series. The new release has seen a number of technological improvements, including updated visuals bringing it closer to the standards of ninth generation consoles. Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition was developed by Ubisoft.
Plot
The game is set on Hillys, a mining planet inhabited by humans and anthropomorphic animals alike. The place suffers constant alien attacks, their only life of defense being the Alpha Section organization. The protagonist, young reporter Jade, suspects the so-called heroes aren't what they seem to be on the surface. She decides to join the IRIS Network - an underground resistance movement and learn the truth about the invasion.
Mechanics
Like the 2003's original, Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition is a third-person game focused on exploration, stealth and combat. Jade wields a Dai-jo staff and can easily handle herself against enemy soldiers and aliens. Oftentimes we'll be assisted by companions, whose special abilities come in handy in combat and while solving puzzles.
One of the key mechanics of Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition is photography. Jade's camera comes in handy during infiltration (letting her document clues and evidence) and is a good source of funds, as she's under a contract to photograph all creatures living on Hillys. Money can be spent on such bonuses as increased health. The player will also get to drive vehicles (hovercrafts and shuttles) around the game's half-open world and take part in mini-games (such as races).
Technical aspects
Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition introduces many new features to the original game. The remastered version introduces upgraded visuals and audio, better controls and an autosave - it also supports 4K and 60 FPS. For challenge lovers, there are new achievements and a speedrun mode.

Beyond Good and Evil May Get a Remaster to Celebrate 20th Birthday
ESRB has added the entry for Beyond Good and Evil 20th Anniversary Edition to its database. It looks like Ubisoft is preparing a new edition of its iconic game.
