Beyond Good and Evil Remaster Leaked by Microsoft; Screenshots and Details [Update]
Beyond Good & Evil remaster is real! This was confirmed by a Microsoft Store's mistake. We already have the first screenshots.
Update
Ubisoft has officially announced Beyond Good & Evil: 20th Anniversary Edition. However, it hasn't released any gameplay footage beyond the logo below, and it hasn't even announced the target hardware platforms. We only learned that we will get more information in the first months of 2024.
Original news
Rumors from a few months ago have been confirmed. Ubisoft has developed a remaster of Beyond Good & Evil, the excellent 2003 action adventure game.
- The project has been available for a while on Microsoft Store. Clearly someone got ahead of themselves, as the game's card was quickly removed, but the cat is out of the bag.
- What's more, Ubisoft+ subscribers have discovered that they can already play the remaster. Here, too, the game's product page was quickly removed, but those who have managed to download the game can continue playing. Therefore, the first gameplays have begun to appear on the web (you can watch one of them below).
- So the remaster is real and should be announced any moment.
A refreshed version of Beyond Good & Evil will offer gameplay in 4K resolution and at 60 frames per second. We will also get improved graphics and controls. In addition, the remaster will offer autosave.
For now, it is unknown when to expect the official release of the refreshed version of Beyond Good & Evil. The remaster was created to celebrate the game's 20th birthday, but the anniversary of the original's release has already passed (November 11). It seems most likely that the game will be announced at this year's The Game Awards, which will be held on December 7. It is possible that when it is officially revealed, the project will go on sale right away.
Imminent announcement of Beyond Good & Evil remaster rejoices. It's a true classic and it will be good to see it in refreshed form. The game's 20th anniversary, however, reminds us that we still haven't lived to see a sequel, and this despite the fact that it was announced in 2008.
