Between Light & Dark: A Game of Souls is a project by Gdynia's Very Nice development studio addressed to the audience from the circle of the so-called occasional players (casual). The game belongs to the popular genre of adventure games with puzzles of the "hidden objects" type and is also the first part of the trilogy.
The main protagonists of Between Light & Dark: A Game of Souls are a darts, a mind-driven American journalist - Miss Light and a subdued, mysterious Mr. Dark. This seemingly bizarre couple follows in the footsteps of a lost child, discovering dark secrets in which the past is mixed with the present, and things do not always seem to be what they are in reality....
Between Light & Dark: A Game of Souls is based on classic genre solutions. Players have to deal with many puzzles like "hidden objects", as well as more or less complex puzzles in the form of unconventional mini-games.
An interesting idea used by the creators is the ability to play one or the other of the main characters. Depending on the choice made, the events are presented in a slightly different way. Even the appearance of the user interface is different. In many cases, character swapping is the key to solving puzzles.
Developers from Very Nice Studio put a lot of emphasis on the audio-visual setting of their work. Two-dimensional graphics in the game are based on hand drawn backgrounds. The impression of the incredible scenery and events is emphasized by the atmospheric soundtrack.
