A free-to-play collector's card game, distributed in a free-to-play formula, set in the universe of the popular RTS Battle Realms from 2001. The game combines the strategic features of the original with elements of card games and role-playing games, and the players have at their disposal two independent campaigns and a fully fledged multiplayer, allowing for online competition in PvP mode.
Battle Realms Legends is a collector's card game set in the universe known from the popular RTS Battle Realms strategy, developed in 2001 by the Liquid Entertainment team. The creators of the game are responsible for the creation of the original, and its production - just like in the case of many brands resurrected after years - was supported by a crowd-funding campaign on the Kickstarter website.
The game world skillfully combines inspirations from the fantasy trend, the culture of medieval Japan and the achievements of ancient Asian civilizations. The plot of Battle Realms Legends continues the threads started in the strategic prototype, and the players play the role of the leader of one of the clans known from that title: the Dragon and Lotus. Depending on the choice we have made, two separate feature campaigns await us, in which we will direct the fate of our faction. Their course is to some extent non-linear and depends to a large extent on the decisions taken by the player.
The gameplay mechanics combines original borrowed strategic elements, such as population development, sourcing and trading of raw materials and the need to expand the controlled territory, with elements typical of card games and RPG production. When entering the game, we choose one of the available heroes, created on the basis of characters known from the original. Each of them has his or her own unique skills, equipment and units under his or her command. Each of them has a few separate skill trees, which we can develop during the game according to our own preferences.
During the game we explore extensive two-dimensional maps, visiting a number of villages and cities, where we are faced with hundreds of varied storyline tasks. There is no shortage of battles, which will be decided by the cards acquired gradually during the game, symbolizing various units and spells. The course of the battle is also influenced by elements such as equipment, terrain, time of day or various random events. For example, a cursed peasant who is harmless during the day can turn into a dangerous and bloodthirsty werewolf at night. The creators have also developed a number of additional mechanisms, such as morphing and merging individual cards in order to create more effective units and formations in combat.
Battle Realms Legends, however, is not only a one-person game. With equal piety, the creators treated the multiplayer network mode, which allows you to play fast or ranking PvP duels. The popular free-to-play formula encourages you to try the game, which does not force you to make microtransactions, ensuring that you get paid items by spending enough time with the game.
