Battle Academy 2 Description
Battle Academy 2 is a successor to Battle Academy, an old-fashioned turn-based strategy game released in 2010. As it was before, the second installment was created by studio Slitherine which is specializing in this genre.
The game takes to the east front of World War II during the Operation Barbarossa – in summer 1941 when Germany attacked its former ally, USSR. Player can decide which of these two nations to lead. Battle Academy 2 offers 4 campaings with total of 30 missions. There is also skirmish mode with single scenarios and many configuration options. Developer implemented procedural generated maps for more diverse gameplay. We can also use extensive modding tools to create our own scenarios. Battles are turn-based.
As it should be in an accurate historic game, Battle Academy 2 offers us authentic units known from World War II – for example, we can use in combat tanks such as German Panzer III, Tiger and Panther or Soviet BT-7, T-34 and IS-2. There are over 130 units in total. Developer implemented several new elements into the mechanics of battles: smoke, short sprint for the infantry, support of fighter aircraft, partial damage and tactical usage of trench.
In addition to single player modes, there is also a multiplayer. It was based on system PBEM+ (improved Play by e-Mail). Creators prepared cooperation and competetive mode for up to 2 players.
Battle Academy 2 can look like a game much older than it truly is but it was meant to look like that. Visual layer is simple and looks a bit like a comic book – thanks to that it runs well even on less powerful computers.

The first expansion to the well-received turn-based strategy game Battle Academy 2: Eastern Front from Slitherine. The expansion pack recreates the eponymous Battle of Kursk, known as the greatest armored battle in world’s history. In the summer of 1943 the Nazi Germany made a desperate attempt at regaining the upper hand on the Eastern Front, throwing in almost all of their advanced combat vehicles. The Russians defending Kursk, however, predicted the enemy’s plan and kept shattering enemy squadrons one by one as they were approaching the city and managed to keep the Germans at bay. In the game you can pick one of the two sides of the conflict, either taking control of German tanks assaulting the city or the Soviet defenders trying to repel the offensive. Individual missions in both campaigns are tied to one another, which means that the loss you take in one battle carries over to the next one. Apart from these additional missions, Battle Academy 2: Battle of Kursk offers new units on both sides of the conflict.
