Batman: Gotham City Racer is a game developed by Sinister Games and published by Ubisoft. The game takes us to Gotham City, where we can take part in events based on the motifs of the animated series titled The New Batman Adventures.
Mechanics
Contrary to what the title suggests, Batman: Gotham City Racer is not a classic racing game. The game enables us to sit at the helm of one of several vehicles. Playing the role of Batman or one of his companions, we take care of order in Gotham City, driving on its streets in Batmobile or sitting on one of the three Batcycles. By controlling one of the villains (headed by Joker, Riddler and Two-Face) we can sow chaos, fleeing the heroses and the justice system. We can navigate the city using both the objective marker at the top of the screen and the minimap in the lower right corner.
Game modes
Batman: Gotham City Racer offers three gameplay variants, two of which are designed for solo play. The first one is the story mode, in which the creators set specific goals for us, and in subsequent missions we are introduced by animate cut-scenes taken from the aforementioned series. Our tasks are relatively diverse, just like the course of the game - while in one stage we just have to follow the goal, in another we try to get to the place before the time runs out, while in the next stage we not only have to participate in a chase, but also fight with the opponent, using an extensive arsenal of gadgets (beginning with the iconic Batarangs).
The second mode of the game enables us to become a guardian of the law (whose aim is to reach the place of crime and stop the villains) or to enter the skin of the criminal and escape from Batman himself.
The title also offers a competitive multiplayer mode, designed to play in the company of the other person - while one player plays the hero, the other takes control of the villain.
Technical aspects
Batman: Gotham City Racer offers decent quality of visual setting; the cutscenes from the animated series are noteworthy. The soundtrack consists of six tracks composed by Ray Fabi.
