BAFL: Brakes Are for Losers Description
BAFL: Brakes Are For Losers is a racing game and the debut project of the independent studio Oudidon. Playdius published the game on PC and Switch.
Mechanics
In BAFL: Brakes Are For Losers we observe the action from a top-down perspective. Developers have prepared eight cars for us to use, at the helm of which we race on several diversified tracks; particular tracks, inspired by popular culture from the turn of the eighties and nineties of the twentieth century, have been located in places such as the sunny Las Vegas, Caribbean beaches, hellish underground, icy wilderness and even the surface of the Moon. The driving model is arcade - as the title suggests, we do get no brakes here, which means that more difficult parts of the routes are covered using, e.g. spectacular drifts. Successive victories give us access to improvements to individual machines.
Game modes
>The mainstay of the game are races, in which our goal is to cross the finish line in the first position; apart from getting to know the exact route, victory requires above all the skillful use of power-ups which give us an advantage over our opponents. In addition, there are time trials waiting to be tested, in which we try to get the best result. We can also boast of our achievements on online leaderboards. BAFL: Brakes Are For Losers can be played both solo and with friends. Multiplayer mode allows up to eight players to fight together.
Technical aspects
Visuals of BAFL: Brakes Are For Losers adopt a cartoonish style and rich colors. The visual sphere is complemented by the audio layer - the gameplay is accompanied by an electronic soundtrack by Aymeric Schwartz, who previously worked on such titles as Rayman Adventures or Absolver.
