Prepared by MicroProse, the sensational simulator of the B-17 bomber, which aroused real fear in the hearts of the Nazis during World War II. According to its name, this airplane is a "flying fortress", which you will soon find out if you play the role of its commander.

The B-17 Flying Fortress differs greatly from other simulators. The player is not the only passenger of the plane, but part of a ten-person crew, each member of which (controlled by a computer) is responsible for performing the tasks assigned to him/her. Of course, at any time you will be able to replace one of your companions and take over their duties, but you are not able to be in several places at the same time. That's why the commands you give will have a huge impact on the fate of the whole crew and the machine.

The game offers twenty-five scenarios in which you will bomb various targets: canals, bridges, shipyards, submarine bases and factories. Each time you start your flight in the British Isles. In order to perform most of the tasks assigned to the command, it is necessary to fly over German territory, release a load of bombs in the indicated place and safely return to the base. This is not so easy, especially when we have to avoid the fire of enemy fighters and cannon p/lot. Luckily, the B-17 is full of machine guns, which will allow you to score the attacking planes.

The game is very difficult, mainly due to the strong pressure of MicroProse programmers to faithfully reflect the reality of a bomber flight. The B-17 is a heavenly cannon that reacts heavily to the rudder, and is slow and not very manoeuvrable. The need to be in ten places at the same time also does not make the task easier. In addition, the program is intended only for patient people. The flight over the territory of Hitler's Germany lasts mercilessly long and the return to England is even worse, because in addition, you have to get rid of hostile fighters, punching the hull at a rate exceeding all acceptable standards. The program is characterized by very good vector graphics and even a great soundtrack. Mastering all the nuances of gameplay will take a lot of time, but it's really worth the effort, as the B-17 Flying Fortress is one of the most original flight simulators of the first half of the nineties.
