Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 is the third main installment of the action platform game series, launched in 2014. The game, made in a style bringing to mind the iconic Mega Man series, was developed by Inti Creates studio. The project was supervised by the well-deserved Keiji Inafune, who served as executive producer on the project.

Plot

Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 once again takes us on a journey to a science fiction world where so-called Adepts - people blessed with a superpower called Septima - are born. After defeating the Eden organization, the main character of the series - Gunvolt - came into possession of even more powerful abilities, causing him to be targeted by the Shadow Yakumo organization. The task of stopping his "awakening" fell to the battle priestess Kirin.

Thus begins the joint adventure of the two heroes. The story here is conveyed mainly through dialogues, so as not to interrupt the players' dynamic gameplay.

Game mechanics

Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 is a side-scroller. We control both Gunvolt and Kirin, between whom we can freely switch.

Over the course of successive missions, the protagonists flash to the right, jump on platforms and avoid numerous traps and terrain obstacles, and above all - fight hordes of enemies. While Gunvolt razes enemies with lightning bolts, Kirin eliminates enemies by making use of his katana. In addition, the heroes have special abilities, the skillful use of which can change the fate of many a skirmish. In addition, Gunvolt can use so-called Image Pulses, which allow him to summon to the battlefield allies and enemies encountered during his previous adventures.

Technical aspects

The graphics of Azure Striker Gunvolt 3 is made in a colorful, pixel art style and we can listen to dynamic soundtrack. After earning a certain number of so-called Kudos, or points awarded for the style of gameplay, the performance of a virtual pop idol - Lumen - is activated, whose songs replace the standard music playing in each level.
