Technical aspects

Automation Empire is available only on PC and resembles Factorio, a game released in 2016. The game enables us to build a network of mechanical systems, mines and farms, and a key element of the gameplay is to constantly maintain high productivity. For its authors at Dog Hoggler studio, this is the third release after Microgons and Beast Battle Simulator.

Mechanics

We build our complex on one of the planets that we choose when starting a new game. They are divided into seven different biomes, each of which has a different character and a unique element influencing the gameplay. For example, an ice-bound planet enables us to build bases on ice floes, and in the desert we are not limited by any terrain obstacles. In order to maximize our income, we must make optimal use of the available space and approach the design of our factory in an appropriate way.

In order to profit from the extraction of natural resources, we must take care of the appropriate infrastructure, including roads, cars and transport drones, power plants, mines and warehouses. Please note that each new facility increases the cost of maintenance of the entire complex. Every month we have to pay our electricity bills and taxes, so before ordering any construction, it is worth considering whether the ratio of the maintenance costs to the income generated by the facility will be favorable. We can also improve the properties of our buildings and vehicles by speeding up their operating times or by increasing the amount of resources extracted and transported. Collected minerals can be processed into more valuable products using automated production lines. To speed up all processes, we need to invest in new technologies, whose development enables the discovery of new properties of individual ores. It is worth noting that the game does not offer the option of accelerating the pace of the game, so we have to observe everything in real time.

Technical aspects

Due to the low budget and strategic nature, Automation Empire's visuals weren't top class on the day of its launch. The whole gameplay is watched from the camera over our complex, which can be moved in any way within the available area.
