Gaius Julius Caesar dies leaving Rome no direct heir. According to his will, his adopted son, Caius Octavius, or Octavian, is to come to the throne which turns into a serious problem for Marcus Antonius who attempts to seize power. The struggle between the two pretenders for the emperor's crown causes the war which eventually results in a total defeat of Antonius and his wife Cleopatra, the Queen of Egypt. The defeated escape to Egypt but a year later they commit suicide when Octavian's troops occupy Alexandria. Caesar's heir returns to Rome as a triumpher and is soon elected Consul and given the name of Augustus.
Octavian Augustus ruled Rome more than 40 years leading it to prosperity by a number of political reforms and expanding the empire. However, the emperor's life is full of dangers and obstacles set by the enemies…
