Attack of the Saucerman! is a hybrid of platformer and action game, developed by Fube Industries. The title was published by Psygnosis. It should be noted that this was the last game bearing the company's logo before it was taken over by Sony Computer Entertainment and renamed to SCE Studio Liverpool.

Story

The source of inspiration for Attack of the Saucerman! were the science-fiction films from the 1950s, telling about the invasion of extraterrestrial beings. The main character is Ed, a representative of an alien civilization, who together with his friends (Zunk and POD) is sent to the Earth with the mission to stop the NEDCO corporation from colonizing it. After a confrontation with Big Bubba, one of NEDCO's employees, as a result of which our characters are forced to make an emergency landing and escape from Area 51, the heroes can finally begin to travel in time, chasing Big Bubba and other NEDCO representatives.

Mechanics

In Attack of the Saucerman! the action is observed from a camera behind the hero's back. The game does not differ significantly from what other representatives of the genre have accustomed us to. In the course of the game, we are mainly engaged in the exploration of various locations (both open and linear stages) and fighting encountered enemies. Adversaries differ from one another depending on the era in which we find ourselves - apart from the Neds, aggressive aliens, we are faced with hostile Indians or even dinosaurs, among others. Of course, powerful bosses lead the way among the opponents; fortunately, an ingenious arsenal can be found in Ed's inventory. Apart from that, the game does not lack arcade sections (consisting of jumping over platforms), as well as environmental puzzles.

Technical aspects

Visuals of Attack of the Saucerman did not make a particularly good impression at the time of its release, which, combined with the average sound layer and high level of difficulty, made the title unsuccessful on any platform.
