Remake of an 2D action shooter that was released in 1990 on Sega Mega Drive. The project was created by the Japanese studio Dracue Software under the watchful eye of Rising Star Games, the publisher of such games as Lumo and Deadly Premonition. Assault Suit Leynos offers a gloomy vision of the distant future in which humanity was forced to start colonizing the space to search for natural resources.

In 1990 a game titled Assault Suit Leynos was released on Sega Mega Drive console. After many years Rising Star Games, the publisher of such games like Lumo and Deadly Premonition: The Director’s Cut, decided to release a remake of the game for PC and PS4. The project was developed by a Japanese studio Dracue Software.

Plot

Assault Suit Leynos takes place in far future. Due to the fourth world war and the reduction of natural resources, the humanity started exploring space, creating new colonies and slowly resolving old conflicts. When everything seemed to be going in the right direction, a new threat emerged – Aliens who intend to destroy the human civilization. Only a combat mech called Assault Suit can stop them.

Mechanics

In Assault Suit Leynos for PC and PS4 the player assumes the role of a pilot of the powerful machine and is tasked with defeating the invaders. It can be done by traveling through various levels on which one must fight smaller and larger enemies. Luckily, Assault Suit is equipped with various weapons – machine guns, rocket launchers, laser weaponry. Not every weapon is available since the beginning of the game – new tools of destruction and upgrades are unlocked as one completes levels. The gameplay in the remake of Assault Suit Leynos is basically the same as in the original – the game is a two-dimensional shooter with platform game elements.

Technical aspects

Assault Suit Leynos for PC and PS4 retains the style of its predecessors but the developers adapted the game to modern times. The title has sharp textures, HD resolution and improved special effects.
