Release Date: November 17, 2017
The second part of the Aces of the Luftwaffe series, in which the task of the players is to repel the German invasion of the United States. Aces of the Luftwaffe: Squadron can be played not only alone, but also with up to three players in a local cooperation mode.
Squadron is the subtitle of the second installment of the Aces of the Luftwaffe series. As in the first installment of the series, the game is a dynamic shoot'em up, developed by German studio HandyGames.
The action of Aces of the Luftwaffe: Squadron takes place after the events presented in the previous installment of the series. The devs present an alternative version of history in which, after a failed offensive against the UK, German air forces send their best pilots - the title Aces of Luftwaffe - to attack the United States. The players are responsible for defending from their invasion.
In Aces of the Luftwaffe: Squadron the action is shown in a top-down view. The game does not differ significantly from the formula developed for the first installment of the series. The devs provided us with several pilots, each of which has a different machine and a special recharging attack.
As we play, our plane constantly flies towardes the upper edge of the screen and we have to maneuver it properly to avoid enemy fire while taking off enemy units. In addition to common enemies in bulk quantities, powerful bosses stand in our way; these impress not only with their attack strength and resistance to damage but also with their sheer size. On the battlefield, we can find useful power-ups, and as we progress, we gain experience levels and unlock skills that increase the combat potential of each pilot.
Aces of the Luftwaffe: Squadron can be played both solo and with up to three players in the local co-op mode.
Aces of the Luftwaffe: Squadron features colorful visuals in an eye-catching cartoonish style. The game takes place with the accompaniment of an inspiring soundtrack.

Game Ratings for Aces of the Luftwaffe: Squadron Video Game.
GamePitt: 8.5 / 10 by Rob Pitt
Aces of the Luftwaffe – Squadron is a great example of a modernised, old school plane-based shmup. It’s pure bullet-hell combined with perfect controls and a pleasing aesthetic. From it’s multitudes of oncoming smaller enemy bogies to its gigantic bosses, there is never a dull moment within the game. Its premise is simple – kill everything on screen before they can kill you, but as you progress throughout the game, this simple task becomes much trickier. One thing which will keep you on your toes is the handicaps of each squad member as they all play through their own episodes of terror and sicknesses. With its additional support for up to four players, I can’t help but recommend this to all fans of the shmup genre!

Aces of the Luftwaffe – Squadron won’t blow you away, but its variety and co-op gameplay will have you coming back to best high scores. HandyGames have made a game that feels like classic arcade gameplay but on modern systems. The achievements keep calling the campaign “Allied campaign”, so I’m hoping there’s DLC in the works for an “Axis campaign”, or something that is added to the game to play more. Aces of the Luftwaffe – Squadron should be in your library.
TheXboxHub: 3 / 5 by Carlos Santuana
It’s not a game that is going to be talked about as a Game of the Year contender, but it does have enough in it to provide a few hours of fun for those that fancy a new scrolling shoot ’em up
