Army Men Advance is the first attempt to transfer the popular series to GameBoy Advance. This console has also seen many other products in which famous plastic soldiers could be directed. Moreover, in the past there were very similar attempts, with the difference that the target platform was then GameBoy Color console. Army Men Advance is a simple shooter, created mainly for younger handheld users. DC Studios is responsible for preparing the pocket edition of Army Men. At GameBoy Advance, the company has also developed titles such as Salt Lake 2002, Bratz, and XS Moto. Army Men Advance was created solely for the preferences of a single player. So there are no multiplayer modes.
The plot of the game does not play a very important role. Once again, we are trying to stop General Plastro, who wants to take control of the whole world. Even before you start playing, you have to decide on one of the two playable characters. This choice is also irreversible. We can take control of Sarg or a Vikka reporter, who can handle heavy weaponry as well. The main focus of the game is on the extermination of the plastic soldiers appearing on the screen. Various types of cellars are used for this purpose. The game starts with the M-16 rifle, but there is an option to buy stronger weapons, such as the M-60, bazooks or a flame thrower. The player can also use grenades.
In total there are seventeen levels to complete. Subsequent missions, as befits the series, are played in locations such as bathroom, garage or courtyard. The boards are quite large, although there is usually only one path to the target. In most missions, the figure is observed in isometric projection, giving the illusion of moving in a three-dimensional environment. In some stages, however, we take control over tanks or boats. The camera then changes its position, showing the battlefield from a bird's eye view.
