Armored Brigade II is the second installment in a series of tactical strategy games originating from 2008. It was developed by Veitikka Studios, the creators of the first game, and published by Matrix Games.
Plot
Just like the first game, Armored Brigade II is set during the Cold War. We play as the commander of NATO or Warsaw Pact forces, leading the troops of specific countries, leading them to victory.
Mechanics
Armored Brigade II plays similarly to the first game. The gameplay is set in many vast locations, designed based on actual military maps. The key machanic is combat, during which we can command infantry, armored troops and aircraft. To succeed, we must adjust our strategy to the terrain, our surroundings and nearby structures (both natural, like forests, and artificial, like buildings and fortifications), the time of day, weather, unit stats, skill and fatigue. One of the game's strongest points is its advanced AI, capable of rational thinking.
The game's systems, such as navigation points and recon, are all very in-depth. Infantry mechanics have been improved, and the sequel introduces new air support and artillery support options.
Technical aspects
The most noticeable new feature introduced in Armored Brigade II are 3D visuals. Though the graphics are still relatively simple, 3D environments portray the locations better and let us get a closer look at our units in-game.
