Dead Cells
Action
June 3, 2020
An action game with roguelike and metroidvania elements by indie French studio Motion Twin. During the game, you explore a grim castle, whose elements (such as chambers, cloisters, and sewers) are procedurally generated. Given the permadeath system, it means that each new gameplay is a fresh experience, during which you can discover new parts of the fortress. An important aspect of Dead Cells is combat, which is very difficult. To succeed you have to work out the patterns of the enemies' attacks and to get the protagonist to a high enough level. In combat you use melee and ranged weapons, as well as offensive and defensive magic. The game features pleasant 2D pixel-art visuals.

A sandbox platform game by indie studio Re-Logic, sometimes called the 2D version of the popular Minecraft. There is no set goal; your task is basically to shape the randomly-generated world around you. At first you only have a few basic tools, which allow you to dig and find resources, chop wood, and create simple structures. As the game progresses, due to the extensive crafting system, you discover better tools, allowing you to create advanced materials and to fight monsters. There are many possibilities in the game, and the only restriction is your own imagination. Terraria features a single player mode, but you can join forces with other players, thus gaining precious allies, who can help you with the more challenging tasks.

Dandara: Trials of Fear Edition
Action
February 6, 2018
An old school mix of platformer and metroidvania elements, created by independent studio of Long Hat House. Dandara takes us on adventure in a fantasy world where basic laws of physics, such as gravity don’t apply. The titular heroine is awoken to restore the order of old. We observe the world from side view, and the gameplay is similar to other titles from the genre, focusing on exploration, avoiding countless traps and threats, and gathering equipment and special powers that give us access to new locations. Traveling is made more appealing thanks to the unusual movement system; our heroine can launch herself forward on short distances, stick to all surfaces and move in any direction. The mechanics find use in combat as well, as we attack enemies by shooting various projectiles at them.
Nubs' Adventure
Adventure
May 27, 2015
A pixel-art two-dimensional platform game developed and released by IMakeGames, an independent Austrian game developer. Nubs' Adventure enables us to assume the role of an inconspicuous pixelated being living in a small hut upon the hill. One day, his home is visited by two red monsters that ransack his home and throw him into the abyss. After finding his home in ruins, our protagonist decides to rebuild his cottage with the help of a powerful fairy that offers to help him if he returns a certain amount of diamonds. The gameplay is built around the exploration of a virtual world which often throws numerous riddles at us and sees us face the aforementioned monsters. Our hero traverses the levels by jumping, swimming, or even flying, all the while gathering gems and keys using a special boomerang. Sometimes, our way is crossed by independent characters, offering their support as a reward for helping them out.
