Alto's Adventure Description
Alto's Adventure for PC, AND and iOS is an arcade endless runner game. You play as a llama shepherd, whose hers has scattered all over the area, and your task is to catch them all. The game was developed by indie studio Snowman, founded in 2012. After the success on mobile devices, the studio released a version for PC Windows, which needs Windows 10 to run and is compatible with Xbox Live.
Mechanics
The mechanics are similar to those known from Ski Safari or Jetpack Joyride. This time, however, you ride a snowboard down the procedurally generated snowy hills. Like in most endless runner productions, the protagonist moves forward automatically, and your task is to avoid obstacles such as precipices, rocks, etc. You can also perform simple acrobatics, which give you additional points.
During the ride, you catch the running llamas and collect golden coins and other items. From time to time you also wake up enemies, who try to catch up with and kill you. There are also simple challenges to complete, such as performing a double somersault or catching a given number of llamas. By doing them, you develop you character and gain access to extra gadgets and five bonus characters, including a snowboarding llama.
Technical aspects
The vector graphics and warm pastel backgrounds make the game look quite minimalist. However, Alto's Adventure features well-done animations, very good physics, day and night cycle and dynamic weather. Despite its simplicity, the playability and unique visuals of Alto's Adventure earned it e.g. the title of the Game of the Year 2015 for iOS.
