The Plot
We play as Drake, a warrior adept in swordmanship and magic usage, who seeks revenge for the slaughter that took place in his home village in the past. After years spent on training and exercising, he decides to face the Legion of the Fallen, invaders lead by the demonic Necros who sold his soul for the unlimited magical powers. It seems that only Drake and his lust for revenge can save the world of Ardon from the impending doom.
Mechanics
Crusaders of Might and Magic for PC and StOS is a uniqe mixture of action and RPG elements. We will explore numerous locations on our way to the final battle with the powerful necromancer. In combat, we will use various cold steel weapons and thirty powerful spells. It is worth noting that those spells can be cast without any mana cost. Just like in many RPG games, our protagonist levels up and improves his skills.
Technical Aspects
Even before its release, Crusaders of Might and Magic was a highly discussed game. It was not only because of the innovatie approach to the game’s universe, but also because of the technology used in development. The game has 3D visuals, similar to those from the legendary Tomb Raider.
It has to be noted that the console version of Crusaders released for PlayStation 2 is a bit different from the PC version: it has new plot elements and modified gameplay mechanics.
Misc.
Despite many interesting ideas implemented in the game by the developers, Crusaders of Might and Magic for PC and StOS was never as successful as the Might and Magic strategy games and cRPGs. For those who like the new approach to the famous universe, Crusaders offer from ten to twelve hours of playing, depending on the chosen difficulty level.
