Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop PC

Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop for PC is an improved version of the 2010 free-to-play shooter Alien Swarm. It was developed by Reactive Drop Team.

Mechanics

At first glance, Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop for PC is not that different from the original. We play as soldiers who were sent to deal with the Aliens. We observe the action from a top-down perspective. However, Alien Swarn: Reactive Drop is much more extensive than the original game. First of all, new types of aliens are present in the game, including Antilon guards from Half-Life 2. Secondly, new types of weapons are present, like the Devastator, Desert Eagle, or a combat rifle. Gameplay focuses on coop, this time for up to eight players, giving us new cooperative campaigns. We can also play alone, aided by bots. Their A.I. was visibly improved. The game now also offers a PvP mode that allows us to play against other players. Reactive Drop Team implemented some classic pvp modes, like Deathmatch, Team Deatchmatch, or Gun Game.

The game also offers some gameplay modifications that work similarly to mutations from Left 4 Dead 2. Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop comes with an achievement system and supports Steam Workshop from where we can download, for example, maps and challenges.

Misc.

Alien Swarm: Reactive Drop for PC was originally released as an unofficial mode. After few years, and a successful Steam Greenlight campaign, the game was officialy available on Steam.
