Airport CEO PC

Airport CEO is an economic two-dimensional strategy game available on PC. The title enables the player to assume the role of a director of an airport. It is a debut title of the Swedish development team Apoapsis Studios.

Mechanics

In Airport CEO for PC the player is tasked with designing and expanding an airport that will be profitable. The objective can be achieved by maintaining various aspects of the object: planning the placement of infrastructure, hiring various employees, signing contracts with airplane companies and creating the flight schedules.

Before the legions of happy passengers can visit the airport, first player must plan and build everything with the help of contracted workers. During the placement of objects the player moves on various levels: big objects like starting lines, control towers and hangars are placed as a whole and connected by roads. When planning the terminal, player can focus even on details like the placement of seats and the sinks in the toilets.

After determining the shape of the rooms, player must place information points, check in gates, security gates. As the airport expands, player can add bonus objects like bars and shops to mandatory things like toilets and sofas. Thanks to them the waiting time of the passengers becomes more enjoyable. Some of these objects require time and money to be unlocked.

Many of the installations require personnel that must be hired manually. Security gates won’t be useful with no security guards to manage them and if there are not enough of cleaners, the airport will quickly become dirty. Player can also hire financial or human resources experts who provide additional development options. When checking the lists of candidates, player can check their education level, experience, hobby and statistics important for their performance in work (for example, how do they manage during stressful situations).

A facility that is fully constructed and filled with workers is ready to receive planes – including small and big ones. Connections obtained by signing contracts with airlines are being scheduled in a special menu. From time to time the player must face unpredictable events like an emergency landing. These can interrupt the schedule.

All events and decisions made by the player have impact on the passengers, each of which is a unique man with characteristic traits that impact his behavior.

Game modes

Airport CEO for PC features only one gameplay mode in which player can select the location of his airport and then develop it from scratch. The player can choose a name for the director of the airport, the name of the airport and determine the difficulty level (including a sandbox level available that offers infinite funds).

Technical aspects

The game was released on PC and is powered by the Unity engine. The visuals use simple and clean two-dimensional graphics, similar in style to ones used in games like Prison Architect and RimWorld.

Misc.

In the same year in which Airport CEO entered the early access program, another similar title entered it as well – SimAirport developed by LVGameDev LLC. The visuals of both games are similar and inspired by the popular economic game Prison Architect by Introversion Software.
