AFK Journey

AFK Journey is an RPG game with idle elements (a type of auto-play in which some things can happen without our participation). The game is available in a free-to-play model, and is backed by the companies Lilith Games and Farlight Games.

Plot

AFK Journey takes us to the fantasy land of Esperia, created for the AFK Arena game. We play the role of a character named Merlin and we have magical abilities. Our hero's village is burned down and they must embark on a journey to learn their old skills again and face great dangers.

Mechanics

In AFK Journey we watch the action from a bird's eye view. We start the game by deciding the gender and appearance of our character. The adventure leads us through various locations - from the picturesque fields of Golden Wheatshire, through the Dark Forest, ending at the towering peaks of Vaduso Mountains. While traversing them, we get to know their inhabitants, carry out quests, fight against enemies, and also recruit new members to our team.

Our potential companions were diversified in terms of the factions and professions they represent, the skills they possess, and their style of combat. Among them, we will find representatives of Forest Creatures, powerful Beastmen, or the terrifying Undead.

The battles, to which we send our team of up to five people, take place automatically, in arenas covered with hexagonal grids. Before starting each skirmish, we need to properly position the team members. If possible, it is worth making use of the opportunities offered by the environment. For example, we can use nearby objects as shields. Our subordinates charge power bars during combat and it allows them to use super abilities. We launch powerful attacks manually, selecting targets ourselves.

On our way, we encounter both ordinary enemies, whose biggest advantage is their number, and much more powerful bosses.The diversity of characters and their skills encourages experimenting with various compositions and formations. As we progress, we gather better equipment and develop characters, which over time allows them to face increasingly greater challenges. New heroes and heroines receive a bonus to experience points, making them ready to jump into action right after unlocking.

Game modes

AFK Journey allows us to play alone (in a number of different modes - from story, through roguelike Arcane Labyrinth, to boss rush) and in multiplayer mode. As part of so-called Honor Duels players can fight battles against each other on a special Arena, where their respective teams face each other.

Technical aspects

The graphics of AFK Journey are in a cartoon style.
