Strategy 20 July 1997

The second official expansion pack to Sid Meier’s Civilization II. With the second expansion, the developers at Microprose have created a dozen or so scenarios set in fantasy and science fiction universes. Sid Meier's Civilization II: Fantastic Worlds adds nineteen missions set in the worlds of mythology (Midgard, Atlantis), literature (e.g. from the novels of Jules Verne), and other Microprose franchises (Master of Magic, Master of Orion, X-COM). The players get to control new civilizations with their new units, buildings and technologies. With Sid Meier's Civilization II: Fantastic Worlds, players received a new editor capable of creating not only new scenarios but also new units. Expansion of cities, recruiting an army, and investing in technology or culture - the core of the gameplay remains the same. All of this so our nation can shine among the rest.

Sid Meier's Civilization II: Conflicts in Civilization Scenarios

Strategy 20 November 1996

The first official expansion pack to Sid Meier's Civilization II. Conflicts in Civilization Scenarios is a set of twenty new scenarios. Interestingly, for those twenty scenarios only twelve were made by the developers. The remaining eight were created by the fans in the built-in map editor. Many of the scenarios proposed by the Microprose developers refer to historical conflicts, e.g. American Civil War, Alexander the Great's conquests, crusades or World War I. Players can also try out some futuristic scenarios - stopping an alien invasion or restoring the planet after a nuclear war. In terms of gameplay the game remains the same - turn-based strategy focused on the development of cities, recruiting an army, waging wars, and on cultural and economic advancement of a given nation. All of this so our civilization can rise above the others. Additionally, Sid Meier's Civilization II: Conflicts in Civilization Scenarios comes with new pieces of music.
