In addition, heroes with powerful combat skills play an important role in the A Year of Rain.

A Year Of Rain is a real-time strategy, designed primarily for multiplayer experience. The game was created and published by the German studio Daedalic Entertainment, whose portfolio includes such games as Blackguards, The Whispered World, Deponia, The Pillars of the Earth, and The Dark Eye: Curse of the Crows.

Plot

A Year Of Rain takes players on a journey to a fantasy world torn by a war for power between three factions: House of Rupah, Wild Outcasts, and Restless Undead. During the game, players take control of one of these groups and try to lead them to victory.

Mechanics

In A Year Of Rain, the action is shown from the top-down perspective. During the game, players deal with gathering raw materials, expanding their headquarters, as well as recruiting soldiers, which are then sent to fight. The list of the latter includes both infantry and cavalry, as well as special units such as clerics that heal wounded allies and Genie that attack enemies with powerful combat spells. As players progress, they increase the combat potential of each of their subordinates, unlocking new skills and developing existing ones, as well as working on various upgrades (such as stronger armor). Also important are heroes and their abilities, which, when skillfully used, can change the result of many battles.

Game modes

A Year Of Rain is designed primarily for two players; however, the game also allows you to play alone, but in that case one is forced to cooperate with artificial intelligence. In addition to the story campaign, there is also a combat mode where two teams clash, and a gameplay variant called Against All Odds, where two heroes have to face two armies.

Technical aspects

A Year Of Rain has colorful, three-dimensional visuals, which in terms of style evokes associations with iconic Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos. The gameplay is accompanied by music composed by Neal Acree, the author of soundtracks for many games by Blizzard Entertainment.
