Lornsword Winter Chronicle Description
LornSword: Winter Chronicle is a hybrid of an action game and a real-time strategy. The gmae is set in a fantasy world and, according to its creators, offers a fresh approach to the RTS genre (real time strategy). The game also has a local cooperative mode, which allows two people to face the challenges together. The game was created and published by Tower Five as their debut project.
Mechanics
LornSword: Winter Chronicle combines elements of strategy games like (e.g. Warcraft series or Age of Wonders) and hack'n'slash games such as (e.g. Diablo). With the action shown from the top-down perspective, players control their hero and move on a three-dimensional map, talking to characters, completing tasks, searching for artifacts and fighting opponents.
At the same time, however, missions often require players to take control of different armies, manage resources, and develop a base that will give their armies new tactical capabilities. The result is a hybrid that is a bit like what players might know from the SpellForce series - except that in the case of Tower Five, the pace of gameplay is slightly higher, which forces players to make quick decisions.
Game modes
One can play LornSword: Winter Chronicle alone or with another person. The basis of the game is a fictional campaign, but one can be accompanied by a colleague - then all the acquired goods are shared, and the transition to a mission requires coordination of activities and joint planning of strategy and tactics.
Technical aspects
LornSword: The Winter Chronicle has mediocre 3D visuals. The game world looks decent, but the poor textures and poorly detailed and animated character models are noticeable. The game, however, delivers solid light effects and a well-designed artistic style that brings to mind the iconic Warcraft strategic series from Blizzard Entertainment.
