A Story About My Uncle is a platformer with a first person view developed by the Gone North Games team. We travel in a three-dimensional world, using an energy whip that allows us to hook up under the elements of the environment and jump between distant points. The game environment was generated by Unreal Engine 3.
A Story About My Uncle is a non-violent First-Person platform adventure game built in the Unreal Engine. It is a story about a boy who searches for his lost uncle and ends up in a world he couldn’t imagine existed.
The movement through the world in A Story About My Uncle is a crucial part of it’s core gameplay – focusing on swinging yourself through caverns with a grappling hook mechanic that gives the player a wonderful sense of speed and freedom. Soar through a game world with a unique art style and a mysterious story unraveling slowly before you.

Once you put on that suit and are launched into the sky, you begin a journey that will have you smiling throughout, even during the challenging moments. It's a game of beauty and wit, converging to create a truly wonderful experience full of dazzling artwork and obstacles that demand some thought to overcome. Some may find A Story About My Uncle too easy, some people may find it infuriating; most, however, will be engrossed in its ever-glowing and charismatic fantasy world.

Unfortunately, the last quarter of A Story About My Uncle does become a little too repetitive, and slightly overly obscure grapple set pieces require blind luck more often than skill. That said, this is still a great adventure - one which will return you to childhood fantasy, and one which will far from get your goat.

A Story About My Uncle is an incredible game that is greater than the sum of its parts. The story is compelling despite some iffy English and similarly-problematic voice acting, while the graphics are impressive as a whole even with antiquated character models being used.
