A Game About Digging a Hole Description
A Game About Digging a Hole is a sandbox title in which, as the title suggests, we are occupied with digging a hole. The game was developed by the independent studio Cyberwave, more precisely - one of the developers working there. The author transformed the rudiments of a concept born during the work on the game Solarpunk into a full-fledged, standalone product, sold at a low price.
Story
In A Game About Digging a Hole we play as a freshly baked homeowner, in whose garden a treasure is hidden. Digging in the ground, we discover that it certainly won't end with just one chest of treasures. So we start digging deeper and deeper, gradually transforming the initially shallow hole into an impressive shaft.
Gameplay
In A Game About Digging a Hole, we view the events from a first-person perspective (FPP). We start with a small shovel, with the help of which digging the titular hole is a tedious, slow process. As we progress, however, we dig into treasures, as well as various resources that we can sell.
We spend the money we earn on increasingly advanced tools, such as new shovels and drills (allowing us to reach greater depths) or a jetpack (enabling quick upward movement), as well as on upgrades for the equipment we already own. Over time, the hole becomes so deep that the light falling through it is unable to illuminate the underground, so we have no choice but to place lamps in it.
It is worth remembering that digging an ever deeper hole has its price, because not only riches await underground, but also secrets to be discovered, some of which may turn out to be dangerous.
Graphics and other technical bits
The graphic design of A Game About Digging a Hole is based on voxels. Resources found in the ground, as well as improvements waiting to be acquired are randomly generated.
