1869 is an economic game about maritime trade. When setting up a small transport company and buying the first ship, the player must achieve financial power, and this in turn boils down to a profitable trade in goods between ports located all over the world.

The commercial empire begins with the choice of the home port, where we also locate our small business. This could be Liverpool, London, Le Havre, New York or Savannah. You can play from five to twenty-six years of age, but you can decide for yourself by clicking on the bar with the current date. Before we set off to conquer the seas and oceans, we still have to buy a ship (new or used), hire a crew and place in the hold the goods that we will be transporting. From this moment on, the struggle actually begins. The player will look for favorable trade routes, transport goods from one port to another, pay the crew, repair existing ships or if possible financially, expand their armada.
