Age of Empires II: The Conquerors

An official add-on for Age of Empires II: The Age of Kings, offering a number of upgrades and additions. The Conquerors allow us to become one of the legendary historical leaders, assuming control over 5 new civilizations with unique technologies and a separate campaign focusing on the accomplishments of famous conquerors such as Attila the Hun, El Cid, and Montezuma.

Mechanics

The game introduces five new civilizations: Huns, Aztecs, Mayans, Koreans, and Spain, each controlled by historical leaders: Attila, El Cid, or Montezuma. The missions include events such as Hun invasions, siege of Tenochtitlan, and battles of Agincourt, Manzikert, and Hastings. The expansion includes new battle units: halberdiers, Korean turtle boats, Aztec Jaguar warriors, Mayan plumed archers, and Spanish conquistadors.

The list of available techs was also updated, and now includes 26 new upgrades, including caravans, herbalism, thumb rings, heresy, and theocracy. Some of the civilizations received unique technologies, such as Chinese rocket artillery, British Yeomen, or Persian Mahouts.

Technical Aspects

The Conquerors offers a refreshed skirmish mode, with new, varied maps, and the ability to issue orders to AI-controlled allied civilizations.
