GRYOnline.pl: 7.5 / 10 by Mikołaj Łaszkiewicz
F1 Manager 2023 deserves a higher rating, but you can’t look at it without the context of its prequel. And the owners of F1 Manager 2022 were pretty much abandoned by the developer. Still, if you love F1, consider buying this game. It is a quality title!
Digital Chumps: 8.5 / 10 by Nathaniel Stevens
F1 Manager 2023 from Frontier Developments is a detailed F1 experience for the F1 fan that needs a bit more than what F1 2023 can deliver. It has every aspect of running an F1 team, designing success on the racetrack, and juggling the business side of the sport. What it doesn’t have is up-to-par visuals for this generation, but that takes a backseat to the F1 managing the game successfully delivers.
COGconnected: 85 / 100 by Lou Sytsma
You will still find it necessary to micro-manage the entire on-track activity. Races can be run in fast forward modes or entirely simulated, but you will not realize optimal results. This is especially true in the early stages of a season.
F1 Manager 2023 Description
F1 Manager 2023 is a strategy sports manager game. It tasks players with leading a Formula 1 team. It was created by Frontier Developments, a studio responsible for the previous installment of the series and many other popular games, such as RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, Planet Coaster, Elite: Dangerous, Planet Zoo and the Jurassic World Evolution series.
Gameplay
The game aims to realistically recreate the duties of a racing team manager. The game is officially licensed, meaning F1 Manager 2023 includes actual, real racing cars, teams and tracks (including two new ones: Las Vegas in the USA and Losail in Qatar), as well as some well-known racers.
We can't create our own team - instead, we manage one of ten real teams and lead it to victory. We must take care of our racers, help them train and look for promising new talents in Formula 2 and 3 (the game does simulate championships in these classes, but doesn't let us participate in them). A new mechanic in 2023 is training the pit-stop crew to handle cars more efficiently during the race.
Our obligations also include handling the team's finances, maintaining the cars, selecting parts and keeping an eye on the vehicles' condition.
The game also simulates the races themselves (along with practice and qualification rounds). Players must craft strategies for each race and make important decisions during them, such as going for aggressive maneuvers, pit stopping to change tires and such. They must also keep track of many different parameters of cars and personnel, such as the newly included driver confidence and tire temperature.
Another new feature is being able to save and quit during a race weekend, for example, between the practice and qualification rounds.
Game modes
F1 Manager 2023 only supports singleplayer. A new mode is Race Moments, which lets us replay actual 2023 Formula 1 races and change their course.
Technical aspects
F1 Manager 2023 features high-quality 3D visuals, their main strength being detailed and flashy race simulating - more impressive than in 2022.
