Today will mark the release of F1 Manager 2023, a new installment of the series launched last year, which enables you to lead a team competing in Formula One racing.

  1. The game will launch on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4, Xbox Series S, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5.
  2. The PC version will be available for purchase on Steam and Epic Games Store. The digital edition will be unlocked on these services today at 5 p.m. CET.
  3. Also at 5 p.m., the game will be made available on PlayStation Store
  4. We do not yet know the exact time when the game will become available to Xbox console.

Big emotions, big expectations

The game is generating a lot of excitement. Last year's edition sold well below expectations, which the devs explained, among other things, with "the increased sensitivity of players to the price of the game in times of deteriorating economic condition".. As a result, the developers abandoned long-term support for the game. However, despite worse-than-expected financial results, developers from Frontier Developments decided to develop the next installment of the series.

The question is whether this year's edition will do better.

  1. The devs did not introduce the two elements that the players asked for the most, namely multiplayer mode and the option to create your own teams.
  2. Instead, we'll get an improved driver progression system and a simulation of Formula 2 and Formula 3 results, although unfortunately we won't be able to take part in these races directly.

First reviews

Quite a few reviews of F1 Manager 2023 have already appeared online. On OpenCritic the game has an average rating of 76%. This means that its reception is similar to last year's edition, which received 78%. Below we cite sample ratings:

  1. GGRecon - 4.5/5
  2. IGN - 8/10
  3. Videogamer - 8/10
  4. TechRadar - 4/5
  5. PCGamer - 72/100
  6. TheSixth Axis - 7/10
  7. Sports Illustrated - 7/10

Reviewers emphasize that F1 Manager 2023 is a better game than the previous installment, but it is not a giant leap in quality. This raises the question of whether those who have abandoned the 2022 edition will be interested in checking out its sequel, especially since it is quite a bit more expensive.
