FIFA 98: Road to World Cup is a sports game created for football fans, which is another installment of the popular football cycle. The game's visual setting contains references to the 1998 World Championships held in France.
FIFA 98: Road to World Cup Description
FIFA 98: Road to World Cup is the next, fourth installment of EA Sports' popular series of sports games, dealing with the subject of football pitch struggles. As usual, the program takes full advantage of the benefits of using FIFA licenses. All the virtual players in the game can boast the same names as in reality, and the visual design of the menu refers to the 1998 World Cup in France.
The game offers several modes of play: league competitions (eleven countries to choose from and all first league teams at that time), world championships (full games with group qualifications and the cup phase), friendly matches and a penalty shootout competition, which de facto serve to train the skills in the performance of eleven players. FIFA 98: Road to World Cup also offers a multiplayer mode, allowing teams to fight with two players.
Compared to previous editions of the program, the visuals (three-dimensional silhouettes of players, created with the use of motion-capture technique, behave on the pitch extremely naturally) have been significantly improved, the suit of deception and ways of hitting the ball has been increased, and many interesting comments from football experts represented here by Desmond Lynam, John Motson and Andy Grey have been added. In FIFA 98: Road to World Cup a player can not only actively participate in events on the pitch, but also decide to a limited extent about the tactics of the team, its pitch position and the selection of players. The game offers a variety of options to customise football matches to suit individual preferences, from the duration of the match (from 2 to full 90 minutes) and weather conditions.
