The Elder Scrolls Online. Best MMORPGs for single player in 2020
Table of Contents
- Developer: Zenimax Online Studios
- Release date: April 4, 2019
Description: a translation of the famous The Elder Scrolls series into the world of MMO. Production is available on PC as well as PlayStation and Xbox consoles. The game takes place a thousand years before the events featured in Skyrim, and focuses on the fate of the Thern family, who seek to restore the Tamriel Empire to its former power.
The debut of The Elder Scrolls series as an online game was a controversial case from the very beginning. On the one hand, the developers have prepared a really reliable product, perfectly executed PvP mode, a well-developed crafting system, and a huge world filled to the brim with content. On the other hand they seem to forgot what the multiplayer gameplay should be and how MMORPGs work.
The ZeniMax Online Studio developers are so focused on the TESO story layer that their final work seems to be almost entirely focused on single-player experience. Almost every task is accompanied by such an extensive story (and equally extensive dialogues) that in places you can feel a glut of content. At the same time, the challenges posed by the game are not very difficult – one can deal with most of them without any problems, and in more complex situations, the game itself provides the correct solution.
The vast majority of the content of The Elder Scrolls Online can be completed solo - when entering this world, one might forget there are other players following the same trails. As our friend reviewing the game said: "None of the strangers invited me to join the team, and I didn't feel like I should either"
Main features of the game from the single-player experience point of view:
- complex and well-designed story missions;
- scalability of opponents and quests that provide complete freedom of exploration;
- gameplay feeling straight from Skyrim.
