Make sure you have the proper lighting intensity

Human eye is equipped with a mechanism to protect itself from excessive light. This is so-called adaptation, consisting in shrinking and dilating the pupil depending on the brightness of the environment. It works like using a masking cap in a camera. Eyes react immediately if the amount of received light is too low or too high – both extremes are harmful to us. Therefore, while playing games at night, players get tired due to the constant need of adaptation to dark surroundings and bright monitor.

Incorrect illumination of the room in which we work is one of the causes of deteriorating vision.

If you enjoy having a night-long sessions in front of your computer, make sure that the monitor is not the only source of light in the room. Use the sensors built into some screens to adjust the brightness of the display to suit your room lighting, or correct the brightness of the display manually.

When you set up the lighting for the evening, make sure that none of the light sources gets reflected on the monitor. You should follow the same principle during the day. Lights emitted directly on the screen are extremely tiring for our eyes. It is better to position the monitor sideways to the window.

Anti-reflection coating – protective eye layers?

When you buy glasses, you should equip them with anti-reflective coating. Such special layers reduce eye fatigue by reflecting some of the harmful radiation. Anti-reflective glasses are available in every optician store.

Sunshine and gone with the wind?

UV radiation, which is responsible for development of cataracts and macular degeneration, is also harmful to eyesight. Therefore, when leaving home on a sunny day, it is really worth to equip yourself with sunglasses that actually protect against UV radiation. It is worth to buy them at the optician store – many models available in fashionable clothing stores do not provide even the slightest degree of protection against the harmful effects of the sun.

A healthy diet for your eye-sight

It is worth adding valuable ingredients and nutrients to your diet that may enhance the functioning of your eyes. You should be interested in all products containing A, E and C vitamins. Zinc, omega-3 acids and lutein have positive effects on eyes as well. Therefore, you should include: eggs, green leafy vegetables, nuts, citrus fruits, vegetable oils and seafood in your daily diet.

Do not forget about proper hydration of the body. Water prevents from becoming tired and exhausted. Furthermore, it contributes to proper eye lubrication.

Green – your new favorite color

The beneficial impact of green color on our eye-sight is pretty obvious. This color relieves our eyes and keeps them relaxed. Green has a calming effect on the neurological system. If there are trees in your area, you should look out of the window from time to time and look at the leaves. If you live in a jungle, then you're a lucky bastard! A plant somewhere near the monitor won't hurt either!
