Visual modifications of consoles and PC builds is another category to which we could devote a separate article and still not be able to include all the fan works.

We will start, exceptionally, with PC modifications. These are plentiful. A large group of mod builders, staying in line with the trends, focuses on adding a lot of RGB lights, not caring about the aesthetics. However, every once in a while, a project comes along that pays homage to a particular game. That's exactly what happened with the BioShock-inspired PC case. It originated in Hungary and is the work of a talented modder, Gergo Morocz.

Equally good-looking is the case inspired by the Dead Space series, in which the author realized the main character's mining outfit by choosing the right backlighting.

And if you prefer something extravagant, take a peek at the completely offbeat project modders from Spain created in collaboration with Activision to celebrate the release of Sekiro: Shadow Die Twice.

As I already mentioned, there are plenty of such works and we can safely assume that every game series has seen more or less successful custom PCs created by home DIY enthusiasts or almost professional modders.

But let's move on to consoles, which by their nature are a little more difficult to modify – although when looking at some of the projects, you get the impression that nothing is impossible.

We'll start with a fresh example of an Xbox Series X modification, which we wrote about last December. User Game Reaper 187 decided to make his own limited edition version of this console, using the official CD Projekt RED branding. It wasn't at all a case of taking the easy way out and simply painting the console the right colors. A metal-cutting laser was harnessed to do the job, and the final effect is stunning.

A great love for consoles was also demonstrated by the Reddit user nicknamed MiniFWZ, who decided to pack an Xbox One into the case of Microsoft's first console. Thanks to the fact that the first Xbox was huge, he didn't have much of a problem with it and the result, while not as impressive as the aforementioned cyberpunk remake, is also admirable.

Same as this PlayStation 4 Pro, which was created in collaboration between the Australian modder TAGMods and the YouTuber The PopCulturists. This tribute to Kratos from the latest God of War installment looks impressive (the Leviathan impaled on the console pulsates thanks to LED backlighting), though I have some concerns about it when it comes to casual use. Nevertheless, it is impressive.

Slightly less fabulous but still interesting is the project by Vadu Amki, an artist from Belgium. He used the PlayStation 4, and some wood and metal, to create a console inspired by Dark Souls III. He opted more for functionality and style, which clearly did not go out of style for this project.

Switch owners are not twiddling their thumbs either. Most often, special docks are created into which the Nintendo console is inserted. The frenzy surrounding the release of Animal Crossing: New Horizons pushed the user behind the nickname Senpai3D to prepare his own dock for the Switch. Four color versions were created – for each of the seasons.

A little further went the YouTuber MakoMod, who decided shortly after the Switch's release to modify the entire console and dress it in a theme from The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild. Sheikah's mod not only boasts a redesigned dock but also modified Joy-Cons that look great when paired with the console itself.

Started writing about games on the SquareZone website. Later, he wrote and managed the non-existent PSSite.com, and currently runs his own blog about games. He hasn't yet written a text that he would be 100% satisfied with. He started his adventure with games at the age of 3, when he managed to convince his father to buy a C64 computer. The love for electronic entertainment awakened by Flimbo's Quest blossomed during the first adventures with Heroes of Might & Magic, reaching its peak after purchasing the first PlayStation. As he grew older, he had more encounters with Nintendo portable consoles, and also returned to the PC as an additional gaming platform. He collects games and is a fan of emulation.
