New York. Iconic sites in Microsoft Flight Simulator 2020
Table of Contents
Generated by photogrammetry, New York is perhaps the most hardware-demanding location in the game. The huge amount of tall skyscrapers, the shadows they cast – it's quite astonishing. GPUs can only catch a little breath next to the Statue of Liberty, created with hard assets. And while this iconic landmark looks great, the famous bridges (Brooklyn and Manhattan) are, for the time being, a little underwhelming. The textures could be much darker. It's also a shame that all the major connections to Manhattan haven't been created in one go. Procedural bridges are the real Achilles heel of Flight Simulator 2020.
Rome
We return to Europe and finish by flying over Rome, the cradle of Western Civilization. It is one of several European cities made not by design, but with special textures and photogrammetry. The difference between Paris and London is significant. St Peter's square hardly needs a hand-made asset any more. Another city in Europe created in this manner is, for example, Berlin.
This is just a tiny piece of all the amazing locations the game will offer. There are only a few days until the launch of Flight Simulator 2020. We hope that you will show us your own postcards in the comments.
