What games can you play on Xbox Game Pass?. Is Xbox Game Pass worth it?

Table of Contents

Microsoft boasts that at this point, the Xbox Games Pass contains more than 100 games. Let's be honest, though – not all of them are worth attention. This doesn't change the fact that the offer is extremely compelling.

In my opinion, Microsoft Flight Simulator alon makes it worth it as one of the most amazing game of the decade. In short – Xbox Game Pass definitely gives you something to play. You probably won't be able to try out even one out of ten games it offers.

Is subscription the future?

The answer to this question is not easy. On the one hand, we have many examples that subscription makes sense. I already mentioned this in the introduction. I'm sure that many of you spend from a few dozen to even a few hundred bucks a month on access to your favorite content and services. A standard real-life scenario of monthly payments looks like this: Office 365 for $9.99, Netflix premium for $17.99, Spotify Premium $9.99, Twitch Prime (including Amazon Prime Video) for $5.99, HBO Go for $13.98, and Xbox Game Pass for another $9.99. It totals around 70 bucks a month, and it doesn't consider other platforms like Origin Access, let alone the internet, TV or phone, which we all pay for monthly as well.

Subscription is most definitely the future, as we can see. The thing is that this form of access to games, movies and TV shows also has its drawbacks. First, there's an increasing number of services. At least 70 dollars a month, and likely more, is by all accounts a significant sum. Many players will also want to subscribe to EA Access and Uplay+. We can assume, however, that the trend will prevail until players will have enough and start boycotting. Imagine that companies like Epic Games, Rockstar and Activision Blizzard are also going full-on with subscriptions. At some point, paying for them all would become too expensive. There would be no shortage of hard decisions.

Besides, the subscription has many other drawbacks. First, you have access to games only as long as your able to play every month. If you stop paying, you won't be able to play anymore. Paying a round sum for a boxed, or even digital game also doesn't give you a 100% sure lifetime access, but it's more than the subscription offers. Secondly, games – just like Netflix – sometimes disappear from the catalog after a period of time. In the case of Xbox Game Pass, this happens almost every month. Games that used to be available, but are no longer include Prey, Devil May Cry 5, Borderlands 2, Vampyr, LEGO Worlds and many others.

Still, we can expect more subscription plans launching soon. Other companies are bound to introduce similar services in time. This primarily includes Sony, as well as Nintendo. Time will tell what the future holds. Microsoft has a big advantage over its competitors in this matter, and The Game Pass is a great argument for buying the Xbox Series X/S.
