Spellcraft Remastered is a mod for Warcraft III: Frozen Throne, created by vnucik.
Description (in author’s own words):
A remastered version of classic map.
Picking up 3 elements crafts a spell depending on elements used or levels up an existing spell. Most spells are never 3 times stronger at level 3 so its usually better to first learn multiple spells and then level them up. (It depends) Some spells gets various bonuses or benefits at level 3 that can also alter the purpose of spell so its best to read the spell description via hovering over the spell icon.
Shops (Elements Merchants) are shown as obelisks or Supply in Race mode. Click on them to buy the required elements. Unlearning a spell always returns 100% of investment back.
X-Arcanum Materia is significantly more expensive than other elements and is used to craft potent ultimates, cheap spam-spells or tricky spells which can be difficult to master. Use with caution!
When building spells use logic. For example: Water+Earth is most likely for druids. Light is often used to make beneficial buffs or healings, but can also smite and purify the heathens. When trying to do nastier things like tentacles, skeletons, spiders or draining; Dark is a way to go. Crafting a frost spell requires Water and Transmutation...
HERO TEMPLATES:
To make map not overly too complicated all heroes have same secondary stats (base attack, hp, armor, movement speed, attack speed, etc...) The only difference in secondary stats among them is if they are ranged or melee (bonus armor and attack, normal damage), spellcaster (magic damage) or a ranger type (piercing damage).
Starting heroes primary stats (Str/Agi/Int) is what matters! These determine what build could be best suited for them. It starts simple but the number of possibilities expands very quickly as the game progresses. +per level stats of Str/Agi/Int are always starting stats / 10. All Heroes starting stats are a sum of 65)
GAMEMODES:
TUTORIAL: (optional)
* Activate to play before any major gamemode. Played until all players choose their Hero or time runs out.
GLADIATOR:
* PvE island.
* Random elements at start. Shops open at wave 2 (obelisks marked on map).
* Size of waves and strength of bosses equal to the number of players.
* Full restore after each wave.
* Heroes revive after boss kill.
* Each 4-th wave is boss. Some bosses are random too. Some bosses require specific tactic to increase chance to victory but should be doable with "just some build" too. Fast reactions or thinking is mandatory.
* Option: East Island
Moves all Gladiator - related operations to the east Island. (bigger map with different benefits)
All rules and enemies stay the same. (Affects also game-modes that use Gladiator map)
* Option: Pool 2 (Units)
Alters Gladiator Waves. Enemies are more thematic and offer roughly the same difficulty.
Does not change bosses.
* HARD-mode:
* No potions at start.
* Spell unlearning reduced (cannot get wood for unlearn, elements are returned instead).
* SURVIVAL (optional):
* After defeat or win in gladiator, you can play deathmatch vs. teammates.
* 1 life. Last one standing wins.
RACE:
* Goal: to bring the Supply to the end of the map. As fast as possible. First team wins!
* Supply = fountain, shop, respawner.
* 2 random elements get discount.
* Play alone, with or against your friends. Enemy strength is constant (independent of number of players). One simply levels up faster when alone.
* Random Creep spawn but the same for both sides.
* Enemies can invade back.
* Race-Heroic
* Enemy team is not visible. Wards are auto-placed instead.
* Stronger, different creeps and bosses.
* Each team Supply is vulnerable. Can be destroyed. This is a defeat condition.
* Team-Battle.
* Beta: after Race ends, both teams clash.
MICRO-WARS:
* PvP arenas, tournament rules. (1v1 1v1 1v1 ... play for points)
* Start at level 3.
* Auto - Level up each round.
* Buy and change soldiers escorting your Hero.
* Double - bot for uneven player numbers or single-player.
ITEMS:
Items are not built from other items like in DotA but are expensive and can give significant benefits. Items are always bought for Gold. Texts marked in Green in Item description is an unique bonus that is non-stackable with same items. (Buying 3 X Icemaster Staff makes little sense)
